How do Solar Panels work?
To put it simply…When solar panels are exposed to the sun’s radiation, they convert the radiation into electricity or heat – delivering us solar power. Technically, Solar panels are comprised of many photovoltaic cells, usually made of silicone, and constructed with both a positive and negative layer. The panel absorbs the light particles allowing photons to knock electrons and atoms free from each other which then creates an electrical flow.
Why did we have solar panels installed?
We made the decision to have solar panels installed last year, as our company continues to grow, we are becoming increasingly aware of the footprint we are leaving behind. As a technology manufacturer, we use a lot of energy, in our quality control department, office, warehouse and production facility.
The quality control department runs a full process on each and every system before they are packaged and shipped. Our rigorous testing process includes stress testing, which we do on all of our systems for 24hrs. This as you can imagine uses a lot of energy and is very loud when every rack is full! By introducing solar panels, we can help to offset our energy use and work towards being much more environmentally friendly.
What are the benefits of investing in installing solar panels?
1 – Helping the Environment. By installing solar panels, we are reducing the damage we cause to our local environment. This is a big step for us and the first of many.
2 – Once installed they are very low maintenance to run.
3 – Cutting overhead costs. Solar solutions are known for reducing energy bills with some companies seeing as much as a 70% drop.
What’s next for Exacta?
The solar panels were a large investment for us to make, so we are currently exploring opportunities for 2023. We plan to evolve our business annually and invest in becoming as environmentally friendly as a technology company can be!
