Exacta to Build Bloxx Media Filter Server
12th February 2010, Bristol UK – Exacta Technologies the specialist custom server manufacturer has been awarded a major contract to design and build the high performance server platform for the new Bloxx Media Filter, the YouTube content filtering appliance developed to help protect young people from viewing inappropriate video footage online.
The enterprise-level appliance, which is aimed at local education authorities and schools, allows users to only view pre-approved and age-rated YouTube media content, helping to deliver a safer online environment, reducing risk and helping organisations meet e-safety guidelines. In addition, Media Filter eliminates user submitted comments and related media clips, so that users only view the approved media clip.
Designed using the latest Intel micro architecture, the appliance is one of the first to use the Intel MINI ITX D510MO and the D3420GP Nehalem single socket server boards to provide the dynamic scalability and high performance functionality required to operate in a high speed, real-time streaming media environment. The compact, low energy appliance supports a range of configuration options and is typically deployed in the network as an upstream or client proxy server to enable rapid integration into a network with minimal configuration changes.
An Intel Premier Partner, Exacta Technologies provides Bloxx with a complete end to end manufacturing and logistics service for its full range of URL content filtering solutions that are widely used by major enterprises and public sector organisations as an integral part of their network security infrastructure.
The fully branded Bloxx Media Filter servers will be built and shipped to order from Exacta’s bespoke manufacturing facility in Bristol with initial volumes expected to reach 200 servers over the next 12 months.
